Read to Grow Jo Co
Building a Community That Reads Together
The Partnership for Children of Johnston County leads the Read to Grow JoCo Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, a county-wide initiative focused on improving early literacy, school readiness, and student success.
By working together with parents, schools, and community partners, we’re making sure that every child in Johnston County has the tools and support they need to become a confident reader — and a lifelong learner.
From car seats to product recalls, we’re dedicated to protecting kids where they live, learn, and play. The Partnership for Children proudly serves as the lead agency for Safe Kids Johnston County, working together with community partners to prevent injuries and keep children safe.
Our mission is simple: to reduce preventable injuries — the leading cause of death and disability in children. Through safety education, free car seat checks, and family resources, Safe Kids Johnston County helps parents and caregivers make informed choices every day.
The Partnership for Children Park is a one-of-a-kind, inclusive play space designed for children of all abilities — and the families who love them. Built through collaboration between local partners, the park is a celebration of accessibility, inclusion, and community spirit.
Connecting Families, Providers, and Community Resources
The Local Interagency Coordinating Council (LICC) brings together Johnston County’s service providers, educators, and family representatives to strengthen support for children with developmental delays and special needs. Our mission is simple: to ensure families can easily access the services and programs their children need to grow, learn, and thrive.
The Partnership for Children serves as a lead convener in Johnston County, bringing together nonprofits, schools, hospitals, and community organizations to strengthen early childhood systems.
Through collaborative efforts — like the Local Interagency Coordinating Council, Read to Grow JoCo Action Teams, and partnerships with Johnston Health, Safe Kids, and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library — we’re uniting the people and programs that make real, measurable differences for children and families.
